I think of public art not as a single process of creating artwork, but as several interlocking community based and initiated activities. Finished art installation is a permanent evidence of a long and creative collaboration of various players which has one purpose - bringing community together.

As an artist and organizer, I strive to create a meaningful experience for all the participants. My first goal is to understand the community’s vision and needs through direct communication, face-to-face meetings, and hands on workshops as well.

I believe mosaic art is a perfect metaphor for life, where the big picture is created by unique pieces. Similarly, our communities are created by unique individuals. Our mosaic projects provide the opportunity for these individuals to create an expression of themselves, which then becomes a piece of the bigger picture in the community.

The result of this synergy is public art that is beautiful, inclusive, and meaningful.
