Participants: 500 students of Lincoln Elementary, Sonata Kazimieraitiene, Artist in Residence; Amanda Taggert, Art Teacher; Sarah Laing, Project Manager.

Materials: Ceramic tile, natural stone, mirror, stained glass, high fire porcelain, Stained glass donated by Mindaugas Vitkauskas

Dimensions: three panels (8’ x 8’ each)

Design concept: Lake Michigan landscape was used as main theme of the design to teach children about the water cycle and our local ecosystem. The Lakescape tells a story of the seasons, from winter to spring and summer, from nearby Lee Street Beach to the Chicago skyline, as well as time of day, from morning to night. It shows the water cycle: rain, snow, and ice. How many different water cloud formations can you identify? It also includes snowflakes and migratory birds. Can you find geese and ducks? The panel on the right shows the origins of Lake Michigan as a glacier. Do you see the fossils?
